The BRE Global Approved Certifiers of Design Scheme for Section 6 Energy provides a route for the certification of the compliance to building regulations of non-domestic buildings.  The Approved Certifiers Scheme is intended for experienced construction professionals involved in non-domestic building design. The BRE Global Scheme for existing buildings EPCs in Scotland has been developed after the signing of a protocol with the Scottish Government.  This allows members who have been suitably trained and assessed as to their competence in preparing EPCs to legally issue EPCs for existing buildings in Scotland.  Scheme application details are given on www.bre.co.uk/epcscotland.

CIBSE Certification

CIBSE Certification Ltd offers Commercial Energy Assessor accreditation via the APEL and the qualification routes. Depending upon the level(s) of accreditation held, energy assessors can lodge Energy Performance Certificates, Display Energy Certificates or inspect complex Air Conditioning systems.

Elmhurst Energy Systems Ltd is the only award winning Government approved Accreditation body for Energy Assessors in the UK. Elmhurst provides Non Domestic Energy Assessor Accreditation (NDEA) for individuals that are appropriately qualified. NES - NHER Accreditation Scheme

The NHER Accreditation Scheme is operated by National Energy Services (NES), the UK’s home for independent energy assessors and low carbon property professionals. For more than 20 years NES has championed the benefits of energy certificates for buildings.

NES supports the largest community of independent energy assessors in the UK with expert technical support, training and software.

Stroma Accreditation

Stroma is approved by the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) to train, license and manage energy and sustainability assessors. We provide two routes to accreditation nationwide – Diploma or APEL. As the company to lodge the first UK EPC and DEC, Stroma is ideally placed to provide the training necessary to reach National Occupational Standards (NOS). Having recently signed a Protocol Agreement with the Scottish Government, we can now also accredit energy assessors producing EPCs for existing domestic and non-domestic buildings in Scotland.


Scheme membership is free (excluding Code for Sustainable Homes) and benefits include a dedicated helpline for all strands of accreditation, ongoing support via a members website area, monthly technical bulletins and regular CPD content.
