Free building energy and carbon analysis
You can access IES’s FREE carbon and energy calculator, VE-Ware, through the Revit and SketchUp plug-ins. This tool gives you limited but incredibly valuable access to our world leading <Virtual Environment> Apache thermal analysis software. It gives instant feedback on a buildings energy consumption and carbon emissions, as well as benchmarking it against the Architecture 2030 Challenge if it is located in the US.
In addition, UK users can now access VE-SBEM for UK compliance and EPC creation generation via VE-Ware.
VE-Ware can analyse both new and existing buildings of all types and across all global locations, allowing anyone involved in building design or refurbishment to compare at the click of a few buttons how different designs, layouts and system options affect energy performance.
Importantly, the calculation is based on real geometry, and uses international data on climatic conditions and the typical characteristics of different building, room and system types.
Buildings account for around 40% of global carbon dioxide emissions, but also offer the greatest potential for significant reductions. VE-Ware gives everyone the capability to get involved in mitigating climate change in 6 easy steps:
1. Import geometry data
2. Tell it where your building is in the world
3. Define your: building type, construction materials, heating & cooling systems and room types
4. Press a button – automatic detailed thermal simulation is performed for you
5. Get output on: energy use, CO2 emissions and US Architecture 2030 Challenge benchmark
6. You can then easily modify your building and assess different options
