Maysoon Al-Khuraissat recently won the first “Women Innovators in Charge” Prize for the GREEN TECH sector. The prize is provided for the first time in Jordan by Applied Scientific Research Fund (ASRF) with support from USAID. This prize will help Maysoon to start up her business, a consultancy start up for sustainable architecture named Adaa (an Arabic word which means Performance).
IES is proud to be sponsoring Maysoon by providing her with a 1 year full license of the IES Virtual Environment (IESVE) software and 6 months DLP training as she embarks on her journey to start up her business. Adaa, Sustainable Architecture Consultants aims to provide high-end small and medium size architectural firms in Jordan and neighbouring countries with the required specialized analysis and technical support throughout the design process to produce sustainable, energy and resource efficient buildings.
Speaking on how IES’ sponsorship will help her to build her company, Maysoon said, “I am thankful to IES for sponsoring me at this stage, the sponsorship will let me allocate the scarce resources I have in other needed business areas. With IES software and training, I am equipped with very advanced tools that will allow me to accelerate my services and help my client designing high performed buildings.”
Maysoon is a strong believer in the performance-based design approach, and believes using IES will allow her to explore and compare many design options and evaluate them from the early stages of the design until the end. “I now have the tools to test architectural design strategies and decisions, from massing, shading, envelope design, materials, wall sections, and details. The IES Virtual Environment will allow me to evaluate and recommend the best energy performance options, not to mention other engineering systems. This is the change in the design process in Jordan that I am looking to realize and with a trusted software, I am on the right path.”
