Visitors to our websites

When someone visits our websites we collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behavior patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. We collect this information in a way which does not identify anyone. We will not associate any data gathered from this site with any personally identifying information from any source. If we do want to collect personally identifiable information through our website, we will be upfront about this. We will make it clear when we collect personal information and will explain what we intend to do with it.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a simple text file that is stored on your computer or mobile device by a website's server and only that server will be able to retrieve or read the contents of that cookie. Each cookie is unique to your web browser. It will contain some anonymous information such as a unique identifier and the site name and some digits and numbers. We use the term 'cookies' in this policy to refer to all files that store information in this way.

There are many functions cookies serve. For example, they can help us to remember your username and preferences, analyse how well our website is performing, or even allow us to recommend content we believe will be most relevant to you.

Certain cookies contain personal information – for example, if you click to 'remember me' when logging in, a cookie will store your username. Most cookies won't collect information that identifies you, and will instead collect more general information such as how users arrive at and use our websites, or a user's general location.

Most web browsers allow some control of most cookies through the browser settings. To find out more about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set and how to manage and delete them, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.

Use of cookies by the IES

Cookie use on our site is minimal. We use session cookies which are necessary to enable you to move around the site and to provide certain features; for example remembering your region, currency and time zone settings so we can customise content. Also, if you choose to click 'remember me' when logging in, a cookie will be used to recognise you and retrieve your username.

If you do wish to disable our cookies then please follow the instructions for Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Firefox. Please be advised that if you do choose to disable cookies, you will find that certain sections of our website do not work properly.

YouTube Cookies on Our site

We link to and embed videos from our official YouTube channel. YouTube uses various technologies to collect and store information when you visit them, which may include one or more cookies or anonymous identifiers sent to your device. YouTube uses cookies to help maintain the integrity of video statistics, prevent fraud and to improve their site experience, among other things.

YouTube also use cookies and anonymous identifiers when you interact with services that they offer to their partners, such as advertising services or Google features that may appear on other sites. YouTube is owned by Google and YouTube and Google share the same cookie technology in determining user interests. You can read more about using the cookie technology that Google uses to serve ads in the Google Ads Privacy Centre.

Google offer an Ads Preference Manager and Advertising Cookie opt-out plugin that covers both Google and YouTube.

Addthis Cookies on our Blog

We use the AddThis social bookmarking button on our blog (blog.iesve.com) to allow easy sharing of pages to websites such as Facebook and Twitter. A cookie is used to record if a user has used the 'Addthis' share button. It stores information about which pages you have shared but does not store any other personal information.

AddThis collect non-personally identifiable information from many of the websites in which AddThis is enabled, and use that information to deliver targeted advertising on those websites as well as other websites you may visit.

To opt out of data collection by Addthis please visit www.addthis.com/privacy/opt-out.

Fonts from MyFonts

We use so-called web fonts provided by MyFonts, MyFonts Inc., 500 Unicorn Park Drive, Woburn, MA 01801, USA (hereinafter: MyFonts) for the uniform display of fonts. When you access a page, your browser loads the web fonts you need into its browser cache to display text and fonts correctly.
