Colin is fifth IES employee to receive this award
17th May 2016
Consulting-Specifying Engineer has announced the recipients of its 2016 40 Under 40 award. This award is given to 40 building industry professionals age 40 and younger who stand out in all aspects of their lives. Colin Rees of Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) was selected for this year’s list. Colin is the fifth IES employee to receive the award, joining his colleagues Michelle Farrell (2011), Mark Gifford (2013), Mark Knipfer (2014) and Michael Pollock (2015) on this prestigious list of young professionals.
Candidates were nominated by a professional colleague or mentor and judged based on commitment to excellence in their academic, professional, personal, and community involvement. The May issue of Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine profiled each young professional, highlighting traits that lead them to continued success, recent professional projects, and personal achievements.
“Each year, I’m amazed at the exceptional level of the nominees, and this year’s winners certainly stand out,” said Amara Rozgus, Editor-in-Chief of Consulting-Specifying Engineer. “Now in its ninth year, the bar has been set incredibly high for these winners—and this year’s class met and exceeded all of the judges’ expectations.”
As the longest serving consultant at IES with 14 years of service, Colin Rees is highly experienced and specialized in dynamic simulation modeling, particularly for the U.K. building regulations. He became a project manager in 2007 and achieved his current role of consultancy manager in 2011. He helped to launch IES offices in San Francisco in 2007 and Pune in 2010 through consultancy, training, and technical support. A notable project where Rees served as the lead consultant includes Glasgow City Council's Primary School Tender Evaluation, where he helped assess the designs and specifications of primary schools, leading to recommendations on improved energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
“We’re very proud to have Colin as the longest serving member of our consulting team and we’re thrilled that he has won such a prestigious award, said Dr. Don McLean, founder and CEO of IES. “His wealth of knowledge and outstanding training skills have played an essential role in growing our consulting division and establishing offices in Pune and San Francisco.
He adds, “Having a fifth IES member win this highly esteemed award is evidence of the talent and skill set of the people at IES.”
