IES achieve ISO27001 Certification
Following best practices for information security management
24th March 2016
IES are delighted to announce that we have achieved ISO27001 accreditation, the most widely adopted information security standard in the world. In meeting the requirements of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), IES highlights its commitment to using the best practices for information security management.
ISO 27001:2013 is the strictest international standard available in information security management, enabling companies to certify the security practices they adopt within their organisation. This requires a systematic examination of an organisation’s information security risks, taking into account any threats or vulnerabilities. This new award is an addition to our ISO9001 accreditation which IES has held since April 2010.
Published in September 2013, the latest ISO 27001:2013 standard is the recognized international benchmark for information security management, outlining how to implement and uphold an independently assessed and certified information security management system (ISMS). Having undergone an extensive two-stage audit process of internal procedures, organisations that achieve ISO 27001:2013 demonstrate to customers, suppliers and stakeholders their commitment and compliance to global best practice for information security.
By obtaining the ISO 27001:2013 certification, IES has further strengthened its commitment to providing customers with the necessary levels of assurance regarding the way their information is managed and secured. IES information security management system includes policies around access control, incident management, business continuity, physical security, human resources and technical procedures.
IES Chief Technology Officer Dr Craig Wheatley commented “Confirmation that we have formally secured ISO 27001:2013 certification demonstrates our on-going commitment to robust, industry leading data security services. Secure use of data is fundamental to ensure that IES continue to enable our clients to design and operate Better Buildings and Smarter Cities. By benchmarking our policies and procedures against this independent, internationally recognized Information Security Management System standard, our customers and partners can be assured of the resilience of all our products and services.”
