05th November 2014
November 4, 2014 - As part of FSC Friday and world Green Building Week, the 1st International Conference on Sustainable Building and Eco-Innovations was held in Azerbaijan on 25th-26th September this year. Hosted by FSC, ADA University, Caspian Centre for Energy and Environment (CCEE), Green Building Council Russia and MGIMO University, the conference program was jam packed with companies from all over the world meeting to present and share their expert knowledge.
Michelle Farrell, Head of IES’ EU Division, delivered a presentation: ‘Reducing Energy Consumptions of Buildings through Analysis’, which considered how energy analysis supports green design, either by itself or as part of rating systems. The presentation took place at the ADA University, a vibrant and diverse world-class institution in Azerbaijan.
A key highlight of the conference was the launch of the Azerbaijan Green Building Council (AzGBC), which IES became a founding member of. As part of the conference program, the founding members declared their interests and support to the new AzGBC, and also discussed a road map towards a green building community in Azerbaijan, including future plans and perspectives. The formation of the council was covered by the press and the local royal family.
Georgia and Kazakhstan Green Building Council members were also present, and IES have begun to form friendly relationships with them.
