IES to exhibit for the first time at Greenbuild UK
Showcasing new cutting-edge technology and services from its R&D division at stand #B4
01st May 2013
1 May, 2013 – IES today announced, it will be exhibiting for the first time, at this year’s Greenbuild UK expo. Held in Manchester Central from 8-9 May, the show is the UK's newest sustainable building and refurbishment event. IES will be showcasing the latest cutting-edge technology and services to come from its R&D division. Delegates visiting the stand #B4 will find out about IES’ latest Integrated Environmental Impact and Cost Analysis tools, its brand new 3D viewer for evacuation and occupant movement, and its new Smart Energy Management consulting Service.
The Integrated Environmental Impact and Cost Analysis tools are a unique new toolset which will allow construction professionals to ensure that the most sustainable solution is selected - for their building, for operational energy efficiency, and for budget and environmental impact. The tools have been developed as a direct result of a three year Technology Strategy Board funded project called IMPACT which involved the BRE, IES, Willmott Dixon and AEC3. The project created the IMPACT integrated LCC and LCA methodology and database for software developers to incorporate into their tools – IES is the first to deliver these tools.
The pioneering Simulex tool, previously only available in 2D plan views, has been given a facelift to offer advanced animation capabilities to investigate building egress and ingress. The new 3D viewer animates occupant movement on each floor of the building, while allowing the user to “fly round” the building for easier visual analysis. It provides quick access to movie recording, and additional effects such as wall and floor transparencies.
The new Smart Energy Management consulting service bridges the gap between predicted design performance and the actual operational performance of buildings. The service uses state of the art 3D Virtual Technology fresh from the IES R&D division to link up operational data from Building Management Systems with a 3D simulation model of the building design, uncovering hidden savings.
“We are delighted to be exhibiting at Greenbuild UK for the first time, says Don McLean, Founder and Managing Director IES. “We have some really exciting innovations coming from our R&D division and these events allow us the opportunity to show people what we are doing first-hand and get valuable feedback from the industry.”
Integrated Environmental Solutions’ (IES) mission is to advance the sustainability of the world’s built environment through the use of integrated performance modelling technology, delivering resource efficient, low-energy, zero-carbon buildings and cities for future generations.
