IES is at the forefront of cutting-edge technology in the green-building sector and our Virtual Environment (VE) software is the only tool that allows the design team to simulate the full performance of a building model.
IES R&D was established in 2010 to advance the Virtual Environment suite of tools, develop software for new markets and provide consultancy and technical advice to commercial companies, government bodies, NGOs, standard and regulation authorities and voluntary energy rating system organisations.
The R&D office in Ireland, predominantly focusses on delivering new solutions and innovation for new markets. This includes new markets such as Local Authorities/Municipalities, Urban Planners, Energy Management Companies, Energy Service Companies (ESCOs), Service and Technology Providers (e.g. Renewable Energy Technologies), Developers and Investors and Utility Companies. This includes the development of new software for these markets, integrated with the core existing IES technology as well as R&D consultancy and technical advice to stakeholders across these markets.
IES R&D participate in national, EU and international grant-funded projects (e.g. SEAI RD&D funding programme and H2020) and have a strong track record of writing and coordinating proposals. IES are currently looking to add to their current proposal writing team and are looking for a candidate with strong expertise in proposal writing, particularly related to grant-funded projects and ideally in the area of H2020.

As R&D is at the forefront of IES new business development, the successful candidate will also be highly involved with the strategic direction of new products and services that IES should deliver, and hence the role also includes research into, and engagement with, new and emerging technologies from many different cross-cutting sectors.
The Candidate: The candidate must have an engineering background and a good knowledge of the overall construction, energy sectors and IT sectors; a broad knowledge of all sectors is essential to the role. The role will also involve travel and networking with European academic and business organisations to create strong consortiums that will lead to successful bids.
