One Burrard Place - LEED Energy Modelling

Vancouver

IES Consulting performed a LEED energy analysis comparison with ASHRAE 90.1-2007 for the One Burrard Place development in Vancouver.

Key Facts

  • Gold LEED Certification
  • 550 ft, 54 storey building
  • 1 million sq metres floor area

Sterling, Cooper & Associates sought the expertise of IES Consulting to perform a LEED energy model on the One Burrard Place project. IES modelled using the ASHRAE 90.1-2007 PRM energy route which involved creating the highly detailed proposed and baseline building models.

The development consisted of a number of blocks:

  • A 54 storey tower containing residential, office & retail space stading at 550 ft.
  • A 13 storey tower containing office and retail space
  • A 35 storey tower containing residential, office and amenity space in downtown Vancouver.

The project was committed to the City of Vancouver LEED Gold equivalency under CaGBC’s LEED 2009 New Construction Program. Under the City of Vancouver’s “General Policy for Higher Buildings” in 2011, the buildings “must significantly demonstrate and advance the city’s objective for carbon neutrality for new buildings with a stated objective to achieve a 40-50% reduction in energy consumption from 2010 levels”.
