IES Develop Unique Interactive Touch Screen for Project SCENe

We’ve been working with the University of Nottingham on a very exciting collaboration. As part of Project SCENe (Sustainable Community Energy Networks), a research and development project led by Nottingham University, IES has developed a first of its kind, 147inch interactive touch screen which is now open to the public.

The screen, located in the Trent Basin ‘Community Hub’, provides details of the energy performance of individual buildings and utilities. It’s linked to real-time and aggregated energy data and tailor-made IES software, allowing people to interact with energy in a way they’ve never been able to before. The multi-dimensional methods, their simplicity and the monitor’s floor to ceiling design, allows people of all abilities to utilise and benefit from this. The aim is to make energy easy and compelling to understand, improve and realise its potential to support wellbeing and resilience.

After presenting its technology to senior University staff, IES was asked to undertake the energy modelling for the project using its newly developed innovative, interactive smart city technology.

Leading the collaboration for IES, Naghman Khan said, “This has been part of a major pilot project for IES. We’ve put a lot of work into this technology and we plan to roll it out to other big universities and developments in the UK in the near future.”
