Keppel Bay Tower: Singapore’s First Green Mark Platinum (Zero Energy) Commercial Building

Keppel Bay Tower: Singapore’s First Green Mark Platinum (Zero Energy) Commercial Building

IES was one of five technology partner’s in this innovation project jointly funded by the Building Construction Authority and Keppel Land in Singapore. The project aim was to use innovative technology to achieve energy savings beyond the more traditional measures already implemented in the Keppel Bay Tower (KBT) building and drive efficiency even further than the Green Mark Platinum standard, currently the highest building performance rating that can be achieved in Singapore.

IES developed a Digital Twin model of the super-efficient Green Mark Platinum Keppel Bay Tower building which was calibrated to accurately reflect the energy performance of the actual building, using a live link to its operational BMS data.

The goal was to improve the buildings energy efficiency by 20%, as compared to other BCA Green Mark Platinum buildings. By February 2020, Keppel Land had implemented technology from all five partners resulting in a reduction of 22.3% in annualised energy consumption of the building.

A full more detailed case study on IES’ work on Keppel Bay Tower will be available soon - watch this space. In the meantime check out this recently published case study by another of the technology partners which outlines the project results and contributions of each partner.
