Congratulations to IES’ Matthew Duffy on being re-elected to the IBPSA-USA Board of Directors. After serving in 2020 and 2021, he has been re-elected for 2022 and is currently serving as Chair of the IBPSA-USA Chapters Committee, as well as being a vendor representative on the IBPSA-USA Building Data Exchange Committee.
The mission of IBPSA-USA is to advance and promote the science of building simulation in order to improve the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of new and existing buildings in the United States.
Matthew is a Business Development Manager at Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES, Ltd.) for the IES Virtual Environment (IESVE), and has been involved with IBPSA and IBPSA-USA throughout his entire 14 year career in building performance and simulation. He was one of the founding members of the IBPSA-USA Wisconsin Chapter in 2018 and volunteers as a STEM teacher for local Madison schools. He is also one of the founding members of the IBPSA-USA J.E.D.I. working group.
Speaking on the ambition for his roles with both IBPSA and IES, he said:
“We would like to move IBPSA-USA in a direction that is more inclusive and more aware of the challenges faced in our communities and society. Our work goes well beyond crunching numbers for buildings, as there is so much intersectional nature in our industry. I would like this to be reflected in our mission and vision of IBPSA-USA.
“Working at IES provides an opportunity for growth, learning, and teaching different people to use the full value of IESVE software to strive for these community goals.
“It is so important for us to do everything that we can to lift up the next generations, as they will have so much adversity with climate change and other social issues.”
