Congratulations to IES Associate Director for Energy Services, Mark Gifford who has been recently appointed as Interim Vice President for UK Association of Energy Engineers (UKAEE).
Mark has been involved in re-activating the UK chapter, helping to onboard new volunteers and structure the technical programme. He will continue to work with the team at UKAEE supporting the UK energy community.
The UKAEE’s mission is to promote the scientific and educational interests of those engaged in the energy industry and to foster action for sustainable development. Mark’s extensive experience and knowledge means he is uniquely positioned to help fulfil this mission.
Mark has 20 years of experience in the sector and specialises in Energy Services, Monitoring Based Commissioning, Data Analytics and Measurement & Verification (M&V). At IES, Mark leads a specialist team of engineering consultants whose primary focus is Building Performance Optimisation projects via integration with smart metering and BMS controls data. He is a Chartered Engineer CEng MCIBSE, Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP) and LEED AP, and has been the recipient of various industry awards throughout his career including Consulting Specifying Engineer 40-Under-40 winner (2013) and two CIBSE Building Performance Award wins in 2016 + 2020.
Speaking on why he joined the AEE and the future of the UK chapter, he said:
“I joined the AEE due to my exposure to the field of Measurement & Verification (M&V) and specifically the AEE’s CMPV Certification. I am a strong believer in data analytics and how data-driven workflows can enhance energy efficiency and the role/function of a CMPV on an energy project is heavily aligned with these data themes.
The future for the UKAEE Chapter is extremely exciting. With reactivation complete we now have a bit of a blank canvas to work from in terms of supporting the UK energy community.”
Mark and his team at IES offer specialised services to optimise the operational performance of buildings. Their data driven approach supports decision making and helps plan energy and resource efficiency actions based on actual energy production and consumption, presented as real savings and end-user comfort levels. Mark is hosting an exclusive training course titled ‘Bridging the Gap’ which is uniquely designed for traditional Design-side Energy Modellers who are looking at making the transition from energy modelling to in-use monitoring. Why not join Mark and the team for the series running Nov/Dec 2023 with additional dates by demand early in 2024. Find out more and book your place.
The UKAEE are looking for volunteers to join their team to help re-engage members. Interested in expanding your network and making a real impact on the energy sector? Complete the UKAEE Volunteer Form.
