Congratulations to IES Senior Business Development Manager Eric Roberts who has been appointed Treasurer of CIBSE’s Building Simulation Group.
Having taken up position in April 2024, Eric brings his vast expertise in building performance modelling to the role, where he’ll help to raise funds for the group, increase its profile and advocate the importance of building simulation in achieving the collective industry mission to decarbonise our buildings.
As a former founding committee member of the CIBSE Building Simulation Group, Eric looks forward to re-engaging with members and helping the group achieve its mission to promote best practice in building simulation to improve the accuracy of predicting building performance and in turn facilitate the design of comfortable, healthier buildings with optimum energy efficiency.
Speaking on his appointment, Eric said:
“It’s an exciting time to be getting re-involved with the CIBSE Building Simulation Group. In the past few years I’ve seen a very noticeable shift in the uptake of building performance modelling and the understanding of its potential to revolutionise the way we design and operate our buildings. The application of performance modelling throughout the whole building lifecycle is something that is now better understood in its ability to reduce the performance gap, and deliver on energy and carbon reduction targets.
By taking on this position, I hope to further promote the important role that building simulation tools play in creating better performing, more efficient buildings. I look forward to a year of engaging with group members and like-minded professionals to continue the great work that the CIBSE Building Simulation Group does. And through acquiring necessary funding, increase the group’s activities and extend its reach within the industry to educate even more people on the significant role that building performance modelling can play in addressing the climate crisis.”
