THERM

THrough-life Energy and Resource Modeling

Project Summary

THERM was initiated to help move the manufacturing industry towards a more resource-efficient, low-carbon future; by highlighting the sustainability and economic benefits of an integrated modelling process, providing insights and numbers on energy flows to achieve potentially large energy and carbon reductions.

The key output of THERM was the creation of an integrated tool for sustainable manufacturing, which takes into account building design principles and sustainable manufacturing processes to achieve an ‘Integrated Sustainable Manufacturing’ system that allows manufacturers to understand and reduce their energy use.

IES' Role

IES were able to lend their expertise in simulation tool development, their market presence and clear motivation to exploit the THERM tool for the benefit of the whole UK manufacturing industry.
