People Friendly Cities

People Friendly Cities in a Data Rich World

Project Summary

Part of the Transport and Urban Development COST Action domain, the People Friendly Cities project aimed to create a trans-disciplinary collaborative network of key city stakeholders including city managers, policy makers, built environment professionals, ICT consultants, the general public and researchers. This network explored the dual concept of "Smart and Liveable Cities" where citizens are both users and co-creators of cities.

The project also investigated the the alignment of the “hardware” and “software” of a city with user needs to promote well-being, good health, and a sustainable use of resources, within an evolving people-centered consultation framework for economic, cultural, and political development.
