3D-UP

Dynamic, Digitised Decarbonisation investment & engineering roadmaps for upgrading building portfolios.

Project Summary

The 3D UP project is funded under the Innovate UK’s SBRI call “Net Zero Heat & Power Upgrade for Demand Reduction”. It is developing a digital twinning methodology and software aimed at optimal decarbonisation pathways for building portfolios.

The solution will be based on IES’ physics-based simulation tools and as well as decarbonisation pathways with renovation roadmaps, it will also offer multiple data driven services, such as economic analysis, monitoring and verification, performance ratings and reporting, and data export/API functions for integration with external systems. Furthermore, the software will ensure it is relevant to all the building portfolios stakeholders via visualisations and dashboards designed with different users in mind.

The project will produce market-ready software that will simplify and accelerate the process of decarbonising building portfolios through automation, enhanced analysis and visualisation, to give reduced risks and investment costs.

IES' Role

IES leads the project and is developing the software. IES is also responsible for testing and validating the software with demonstration sites to ensure a market-ready solution applicable to multiple sectors and stakeholders.
