NewTREND

New integrated methodology and Tools for Retrofit design towards a next generation of ENergy efficient and sustainable buildings and Districts

Project Summary

NewTREND provides a new integrated methodology and tools for retrofit design towards a next generation of energy efficient and sustainable buildings and districts. The project aimed to establish energy performance as a key component of refurbishments and to foster collaboration among stakeholders in the value chain to ease collaborative design, with occupants and building users engaged across all refurbishment phases throughout the whole life cycle of the renovation.

The NewTrend online platform enables data collection, information exchange and collaboration. It also allows evaluation of different design options at both the building and district level, including district schemes and shared renewables, presenting information on available financing schemes and applicable business models.

The NewTREND methodology and tools were validated in three real refurbishment projects in Hungary, Finland and Spain.

IES' Role

IES served as project coordinator and leader of software development for the NewTREND project.
