IES is at the forefront of research in sustainable design, renovation and efficient operation of spaces, buildings, neighbourhoods & cities.
We invest over a quarter of our revenue into R&D, exploiting and expanding our existing technology and industry knowledge to deliver cutting edge strategies for the built environment. We have a proven track record of working with industrial and academic partners on both singular and collaborative projects, providing innovative solutions to support creation of more resilient, efficient, net-zero buildings, portfolios, campuses, communities and cities.
Our focus is excellence in innovative technology to support energy and carbon efficient Built Environments throughout their lifecycle.
As an experienced manager of collaborative funded research projects, IES works closely with industry partners, academic institutions and research organisations. Developing new business opportunities, integrating state of the art research and enabling third party validation of new technology.
We provide flexibility to existing and potential new Research Partners when it comes to working with us, with the option to apply for research funding either through our European company, IES R&D Ireland, or IES R&D UK.
Funding has been acquired from a range of national and European programmes, including Scottish Enterprise, Innovate UK, Ireland SEAI, Horizon 2020 (H2020), 7th Framework (FP7), and Competitiveness and Innovation (CIP).
The commercial success of our R&D is proven. Examples include our Intelligent Communities Lifecycle (ICL) digital twin technology suite, HONE and Parametric Optimisation tools and the Glasgow Energy App.
