David brings a wealth of engineering knowledge to the business with over 40 years’ experience in Global Building Consultancy. His considered approach to energy-efficient design has seen him act as professional adviser to a number of organisations throughout his career including The Scottish Office (Building Regulations), The Scottish Parliament, Financial Institutions, the UK’s National Health Service, Local Authorities, Manufacturers, Building Developers, Building Contractors and Universities. Under David’s guidance, the IES Global Consultancy portfolio has grown from strength to strength. His commitment to driving the industry forward means David is always keen to explore new business models with IES’ customers and partners to build new, mutually beneficial and innovative business partnerships.
Brenda is an expert in sustainability, LEED consulting, energy modeling and commissioning, with over 30 years' of design experience. Recently awarded LEED Fellow designation, Brenda is also the Chair of the LEED implementation committee and sits on the LEED steering committee.

Colin has acquired over 20 years’ experience in the development and application of energy, environmental and safety modelling software tools. Working from IES’ UK headquarters, interspersed with assignments in California and India, Colin has provided modelling services on numerous building projects throughout the world and liaised with some of the leading architectural and engineering practices.
Mark, with over 20 years' experience in the construction industry, has a focus on providing expert LEED services. A certified LEED AP and LEED Reviewer, he is responsible for project management and analysis within North America which includes numerous Platinum and Gold rated developments. Mark is also a member of the EQ Technical Advisory Group.

As a Chartered Engineer with further LEED AP, Building Energy Modelling and Certified Energy Manager qualifications, Dónal has worked on a vast array of LEED, Part L, Daylight/Sunlight, Overheating, Pedestrian Wind Comfort and Energy Audit projects, using building energy modelling to improve building system design, energy performance and occupant comfort. He has extensive experience of optimising natural daylighting and natural ventilation designs through building façade analysis, and feasibility studies for renewable energy, HVAC retrofits, lighting retrofits and net-zero energy projects. As a qualified Thermal Bridging and Hygrothermal Risk Assessor, he is also able to provide expert advice on how to reduce heat loss at building junctions and reduce both surface and interstitial condensation risk.
Valeria has over 15 years of experience in managing large projects in the field of energy efficient buildings and cities and sustainability. She is responsible of the digital twin consultancy activities and ICL consultancy team in IES, contributing to the IES vision for sustainable communities through commercial projects. Her key target is promoting the use of Digital Twins to deliver zero carbon roadmaps for buildings, campuses and large communities, both for private and public authorities.
Mark has worked for IES for more than 15 years. He specialises in Energy Services, Monitoring Based Commissioning, Data Analytics and Measurement & Verification (M&V) and leads a specialist team of engineering consultants whose primary focus is Building Performance Optimisation projects via integration with smart metering and BMS controls data. Mark is a Chartered Engineer CEng MCIBSE, Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP) and LEED AP. Mark has been the recipient of various industry awards throughout his career including Consulting Specifying Engineer 40-Under-40 winner (2013) and two CIBSE Building Performance Award wins in 2016 + 2020.

Michael has over 15 years’ experience in the construction industry with particular focus on complex energy modelling and compliance. An accredited LEED AP, his experience includes modelling numerous global projects for green rating systems.

Harshad provides expert CFD consulting having developed from a mechanical engineering background. At IES his global project experience has included consulting on displacement ventilation, data centre energy modelling, heat island effects, clean rooms and particulate dispersion.

Douglas is the IES Project Leader for BIM and has over 15 years' of experience across our global projects. Douglas has a degree in product engineering, and with his BIM Accredited Professional status, is leading the IES product development on BIM for Analysis.

Richard has a comprehensive understanding of building physics, with 8 years' of Company Director experience in the field. He is an experienced dynamic thermal modeller and technical report writer with a thorough understanding of construction industry regulatory frameworks and compliance schemes surrounding operational energy efficiency, including the Building Regulations Part L, BREEAM & Passivhaus.
Richard is a competent user of IES Virtual Environment (VE) software and possesses a strong interest in energy security, energy efficiency, decarbonisation, market trends & politics. He is particularly interested in the role that architecture plays in the delivery of low-energy buildings.
Darragh is a Chartered Building Services Engineer with over 14 years industry experience. He has extensive experience in building simulation, model calibration and digital twins. In his current role, Darragh specialises in the field of building operations including controls, measurement & verification, energy management and monitoring based commissioning. Darragh obtained a Master’s degree in Energy Management and Sustainable Building, further to a Bachelor’s degree in Building Services Engineering, he is also a Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP).

Edward is an expert in sustainability, LEED consultancy, and energy modelling with 10 years in the construction industry. A certified LEED AP and GSAS CGP, he is responsible for the management and analysis of projects within Europe and the MENA region.

James is a Chartered Engineer with Energy Auditing and Energy Assessor qualifications. James has more than 13 years' experience working within the construction and engineering sectors in Ireland and Australia. Such projects include MEP design, LEED, Part L, Net Zero, Commissioning, NABERS, BREEAM, Overheating and daylighting.
By utilising his vast experience in MEP design, commissioning and building performance modelling James’ expertise to optimise building performance he has contributed to significant energy, carbon and cost reductions on many projects.
Paul joined IES in April 2017 and has over 13 years’ industry experience working in Environmental Sustainable Design in the UK, Australia and Ireland specializing in HVAC design, building energy assessments, thermal modelling and environmental sustainability ratings.

Raj has close to 14+ years' overall experience in HVAC design from his mechanical engineering background and 8+ years of experience in building simulation modelling. His expertise includes modelling of HVAC systems, ranging from simple to complex models; energy modelling for green rating systems and compliance, including LEED, BREEAM and NABERS; as well as operational energy modelling.

A specialist in building simulation, low energy design and occupant comfort, David has over 20 years’ experience working within building physics. Possessing a wide skill set, his expertise covers detailed operational energy analysis, building regulations and certification, advice on building fabric, carbon and energy studies, and thermal comfort assessments on both commercial and residential developments.

Francis holds an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Building Services Engineering from Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) and is a member of Engineers Ireland. Francis has over 12 years’ experience working within the construction and engineering sectors in Ireland, the UK, Mainland Europe and Australia. Such projects worked on include Commissioning, MEP Design, Project Management, LEED and BREEAM.
Lorenzo is a Chartered Engineer with experience in sustainable design and operation of buildings, campuses and cities. His experience ranges from managing project work on a number of R&D and consultancy projects, mainly focused on building/city/network energy simulations, decarbonisation roadmaps and life cycle analyses. He has also been training clients and organisations across different countries on energy modelling tools and helping them in reaching their Net-Zero Carbon goals.
Lorenzo holds LEED AP BD+C and WELL AP credentials and is certified as Construction Life Cycle Assessment Specialist. He also obtained a Diploma in Project Management further to Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Building Engineering, and has authored a number of scientific publications in the field of energy modelling and sustainability.
Fergus is responsible for managing and overseeing the delivery of large scale decarbonisation roadmap projects for the ICL consultancy team. He has extensive experience of creating granular energy models at the city/region scale and simulating interventions such as retrofit, district heating, renewables and storage. He has a BSc Hons in Physics and an MSc with distinction in Sustainable Engineering.

Mridul is currently a technical manager within the ICL team involved in the supervision and handling of various consultancy projects. He has more than 14 years of experience in building energy simulations with the VE. His expertise includes calibrated simulations, green building compliance, thermal and HVAC system modeling, and python scripting. Apart from the VE, Mridul is also fairly proficient with ICL tools like iSCAN and iVN and has delivered and supervised many projects that involved IES’ Ci2 methodology for creating high fidelity calibrated models and simulating various Energy Conserving Measures (ECMs).

Justin has 12 years of experience in energy modeling and building sciences. His qualifications include a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, Professional Engineer licensure, and LEED AP. Justin’s simulation portfolio of over 10 million square feet includes laboratories, schools, multi-family residential, central plants and offices. He seeks to bring robust and specialized simulation techniques to each project in order to address the challenges and opportunities that make each building unique.
Mehmet Okumus is a Senior Sustainable Building Project Consultant within the ICL Consultancy division of IES and has over 10 years of experience in building energy modelling and green building rating systems.
In addition to providing energy-efficient buildings to his clients, he also provides HVAC design, commissioning, and building physics studies. Combining his experience in building design and operation with a holistic approach within the framework of people, planet, and profit, he serves his customers in energy-efficient and sustainable building applications.
Mehmet has LEED AP, EDGE Expert and Auditor, Fitwel Ambassador and Certified Energy Manager credentials. He acted as LEED and BREEAM consultant, energy modeler, overheating and daylight analyst, CFD modeler and commissioning agent for more than 300 various types of buildings across the USA, Europe and Middle East.
