Positive Energy Blocks
A Positive Energy Block is a group of three or more buildings that produce more energy than they consume in an annual period. Our consultants can work with cities, campuses, neighbourhoods or indeed any other community to help guide you through the process of creating a Positive Energy Block, with the support of our ICL digital twin technology.
Using a proven five-step process, our consultants will create a digital twin of your buildings using a combination of physics-driven simulation and operational data. From there, the team will virtually test the impact of making a series of operational, shallow and deep retrofit interventions to the buildings in order to reduce the energy demand as low as possible. The final step involves an analysis of the ways in which energy can be shared across the buildings and how demand can be met by the installation of renewable or low energy technology, in order to go beyond net-zero to create a Positive Energy Block.
