IES Consulting applied its unique python scripting service to create a VE Navigator for MicroShade, enabling automated importing of MicroShade products to VE models.
Using python scripting, IES Consulting created a VE Navigator for MicroShade that allows VE modellers to import MicroShade products into their VE models. This pre-defined approach ensures quality and consistency of the MicroShade product settings so VE modellers can simulate their building with the assurance their chosen MicroShade product is correctly defined at all times.
MicroShade is a highly effective shading product containing microscopic shading lamellas. The shading efficiency depends on the incidence angle of the sun on the lamellas. When the sun is high in the sky during the summer, MicroShade provides the strongest shading and during winter when the sun is low more heat is allowed into the building. Similarly, the shading efficiency also varies during the course of the day due to the different positions of the sun morning, noon and evening.
The Navigator facilitates the import of MicroShade product types MS-A and MS-D for vertical facades alongside MS-RS and MS-RW for roof applications. Constructions will be automatically defined in Apache Constructions Database (APcdb) for modellers to later assign. The Navigator will show the product listing for modellers to select from and then successfully confirm import.
Sitting within ‘VE Python Scripts’, part of the VE’s Navigators interface, this easy to access interface will be auto-populated after first importing the script package. IES scripts are quality assured for technical support.
