Adding Radiative/Convective Heat Percentages in CFD Models
Radiation isn't explicitly modelled in MicroFlo. There is a reason for this. MicroFlo is designed to model a snapshot of the flow from one timestep in the dynamic thermal model (DTM). The DTM takes into account radiation so when MicroFlo imports the surface temperatures from the DTM the consequence of radiation is imported into MicroFlo.
This is usually a reasonable simplification as only a small portion of infrared radiation is absorbed by the room air directly. The vast majority goes to heat solid surfaces.
There is an issue with this approach when your radiative heat transfer cannot be assumed to heat all surfaces of the room equally on an area weighted basis, which is the assumption used in the DTM. If this is the case then importing boundary conditions from a DTM (and therefore MicroFlo) isn't the best methodology to use.
