What Is the CHPQA Quality Index?
The CHP Quality Assurance programme (CHPQA) is a government initiative providing a practical, determinate method for assessing all types and sizes of Combined Heat & Power (CHP) schemes throughout the UK. CHP, the simultaneous generation of heat & power in a single process, provides one of the most cost-effective approaches for making carbon savings and plays a crucial role in the UK Climate Change programme. The CHPQA Quality Index (QI) provides a means of assessing the quality of CHP Schemes which takes account of the fact that power supplied is more valuable than heat supplied. It compares CHP to separate power-only and heat-only alternatives. The QI therefore offers scope for a major improvement over conventional methods of assessment, which are based simply on overall efficiency.
In VE-Compliance, the CHPQA Quality Index is not a simulation parameter for Apache. It is only a field that is displayed on the BRUKL document. Therefore it does not affect the results.
