How do I edit my NCM Lighting Gains?
As per the allowance in ADL2A, NCM lighting gains can be edited to include the effects of daylight control through dimming and to reduce the power density (W/m2/100lux) of a fitting.
There are 2 ways to edit each, either by editing room by room or doing a group edit. This FAQ will describe both.
NCM Lighting Gain - Power Density Reduction
1. Room Data edit by entering via Query.
2. Select Internal Gains > Fluorescent Lighting.
3. Tick off the template for Input mode. You are now able to edit the Installed Power Density only.
4. The density is a W/m2/100lux figure which can be calculated from the lighting installation within the REAL building.
5. The lower the power density value then the more efficient the fitting. Light levels are irrelevant as the NCM specifies the illuminance.
6. The Maximum Illuminance must NOT be edited as this is a set value specified by the NCM.Once the edits are complete a new W/m2 figure will be calculated and this will now be used within the compliance simulation.
For a group selection the NCM lighting gains can be edited using Edit Group Attributes from the Apache toolbar. The editing sequence is the same as for Room Data.
NCM Lighting Gain - Dimming Profile
The Dimming Profile can be edited to take in to account the effects of daylight control. High levels of daylight are beneficial to a space in offsetting electrical lighting loads.By creating a Dimming Profile in APpro this can then be selected from the drop-down list. See the documentation for details on how to create a dimming profile, particularly in relation to linking with Radiance sensors, available in version 5.8.0. The Dimming Profile is also available to edit within Edit Group Attributes to make a global change to a selection of rooms.
