Prevent “Zero or Negative U-Value” Errors in Glazing

Frame conduction effects are modelled in Apcdb using a net U-value. The net U-value is the average of the centre-pane and frame U-values, weighted by the frame fraction. This can only take values in a certain range, outside which the implied frame U-value would be negative. This is why you sometimes see a message to that effect.

Net U-value should only be used to adjust for the effect of the frame. To allow for air gap resistances and special coatings you should use the method described in the APcdb User Guide (Section 13.1).
