How to Set Up GSHP Systems in IESVE

(Temporary answer while detail in progress)

You can use the CHP facility to model the ground source heat pump with back up boilers.

In apache systems, tick the check box for CHP then set up the system seasonal efficiency for you back up boiler.

Next step is to set up your ground source heat pump in the renewables dialogue, CHP section.

There is no electricity fuel type so instead you select 'Anthracite' as the fuel type and then go to 'Fuels data' and set the CO2 conversion factor to 0.422 kgCO2/kWh in order to match the figure of electricity.
For compliance you need to tick the check box for heat pump in the building details tab under building & system data.

Enter the heat pump system capacity in "heat output"
Enter the GSHP system efficiency in the Thermal efficiency box
Set the Power efficiency and fraction of rated heat output to 0.

As with most aspects of thermal modelling you need to test your system set up to ensure that it works as you would expect. In Vista you should graph the CHP generated heat against the boilers load and you should see the back-up boiler kicking in when the heat pump capacity is reached.
