DSM results are very different when compared to SBEM results
I performed a simulation using VE-DSM. I then performed the same simulation using VE-SBEM, looking at the results they are very different. Why is this?
Although they are both approved tools SBEM and ApacheSim (DSM) have very different calculation methods and can't really be compared, in order to get close results using the two methods you need to go through all settings ensuring ApacheSim inputs match required SBEM equivalents, even then the results could still be off as ApacheSim is a much more accurate tool - Full annual simulation performed multiple times per hour using real hourly weather data - SBEM is exactly what it says (Simplified Building Energy Model) and is not a design tool it's simply a compliance engine.
