“Unsafe Characters” Error When Opening or Saving a Project

This means that either the name you have chosen for the project or the file path (where you have saved it) contains potentially unsafe characters.  Examples of potentially unsafe characters are given below but generally the problem is having dots (.) in the path.  The reason the VE is imposing this restriction is that Apache and other calculation elements in VE can have problems processing these characters and it can lead to errors in some instances.

The solution is to save in another folder with a path that doesn't contain any unsafe characters.

The following characters will cause trouble in Apache if used in folder or project names:

` £ % ^ * ( ) { } @ ‘ ~ # , .

'.' is the most common problem.

In addition, the following characters are forbidden by Windows:
/ \ : * ? “ < > |

Remember: projects should always be saved and run from the local machine C: Drive and not on a shared network drive - this can easily lead to project corruptions.  Feel free to keep backups and cabs on the network but when it comes to running projects in VE they should be first copied to the local machine.
