XML file required to lodge my EPC is not being produced.

I've run the ApacheSim-EPC simulation and the EPC has been created but the XML file required for lodgement has not been produced. Why is this?

If the XML file has not been produced then it usually means there was a problem with EPCGen.exe. Unfortunately IES do not develop EPCGen so the assistance we can provide is limited.

If you select \"Building Compliance\" > \"View Results Folder\" it will take you to the EPC folder. In there you will find the EPCGen.log file. In this file you should find information on why the XML file was not created.

If the XML was not produced because EPCGen couldn't connect to landmark server to verify your assessor details then we recommend checking EPC LAN settings are correct (if you have entered them). If everything appears to be ok then we can only recommend contacting your scheme provider saying you are having problems connecting to the landmark server.

1- User enters project information including their assessor details in Building & System Data.

2- Once “Generate EPC” is selected the VE will begin the calculation

3- ApacheSim runs the calculation & determines the EPC asset rating from the results

4- The VE creates the EPC input file required by EPCGen.exe to generate the EPC

5-1 EPCGen is launched. Validates input file supplied by the VE and EPC is generated
5-2 Connects to landmark server to verify assessors details are correct.

If EPCGen can connect and the details are correct then the XML file will be produced.
If EPCGen can’t connect or if the assessor details are not correct then the XML file will not be produced

Notes on Proxy

If the connection is failing due to firewall or internet security settings then you may be required to work with your IT to add in a Proxy for the connection to the landmark server. This can be done on the Building and System Data >> EPC LAN Settings tab which is available when you are in EPC mode for SBEM or ApacheSim VE Compliance.

BRE have provided some guidelines on this to assist network IT administrators.

If applicable, ensure that the firewall settings on your computer system allow access to the online systems which is needed for generating the XML file. Contact your IT department for assistance on your firewall settings. The websites and IP addresses that your firewall will need to allow access to are:

  • Landmark’s National Non-Domestic Energy Performance Register for England and Wales (www.ndepcregister.com) - IP: 81.17.74.226.
  • Landmark’s National Non-Domestic Energy Performance Register for Northern Ireland (www.epbniregisternd.com) - IP: 81.17.74.228.
  • www.epcgen1.net - IP: 80.71.22.50.

Finally in the rare event that the connection fails and this can not be resolved you should contact your Accreditation Scheme provider who will liaise with BRE wherever necessary to resolve any issue with hosting of the EPC register or connection to the server from the currently approved EPCgen program.
